I've been informed by a very reliable source that Colt has produced the last Python. According to my source, there is an article in the new/recent copy of Handguns magazine on the 50th anniversary model that is also the last Python to be built by Colt. It's got a 6" barrel, & fully engraved, of course & has a value of $50,000.00, & is to be housed in the Colt museum right next to the very first one they ever built. According to the article, there will be no more Pythons because of the expense of building the guns & the fact that no one was willing to spend what they were having to charge for them, about $1,200, which means the end of the best looking double-action revolver of all time.
We all know what this will do to the price of existing Pythons. I just wish I had bought up more Pythons when the prices were close to the $500. dollar range.

TMan; I'm glad you acquired them too. There are double action revolvers and there are Pythons. I reckon one day these Colts will be worth a big chunk of change.

Hmmm... That co worker of mine may just decide to hang on to that one rather than sell it just yet. Bummer.

ML; You might mention to your co-worker that you found a Python for sale on the internet for a certain price and see if he offers his up. I had a co-worker offer me $600. for one of mine, if they were in new condition with original wood factory grips. He must have confused me with someone else.

It is insane trying to find a nice Python. The auctions want an arm and a leg...and are getting it. There always seems to be quite a few available, but even more people are willing to buy them. I keep an eye out for a nice 4" blued.

I guess I really lucked out then. The first one that I bought, which is blued and I shoot, I got from the manager of a large gun store. It was owned by an acquaintance of his, and he was buying it for the store. He hadn't brought it in and checked it in yet, so he told me if I wanted it, I could have it before he brought it into the store. Had he brought it in, I would have had to pay an additional $100 for it.
The second one, which I haven't fired, is that 8.5" nickle plated one that is in 38 Special. Kind of weird. I got it from Cabela's.
I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but the last time I was talking to the manager of Cabela's, I mentioned to him that I had the Ruger 1 in 7.62x39, and they don't even have that listed in their catalog. His eyes lit up and he said: "don't ever sell it, it will really be worth something someday".
Wish I'd never thrown away all those 5 cent coke bottles. Hey, there isn't any cent sign on my keyboard. What is with that?
