I Just purchased a Glock 36 for CCW. I now have been readyin of some functional problems with them. I have been through about 150 rounds and only one FTE. That was on a last round. I ordered some Pierce +1 extentions to add the one more round and fit the big paws better . Does anyone of you fellow members have any thoughts or experiences with the G-36? Pros.......Cons.......and also the Pierce +1's. Thanks G

I'm not current on the Glock Model numbers and their calibers, however, I fired a small compact Glock .45 acp a couple of years ago at the range. One of my neighbors was in the lane next to me and offered up his small Glock for my to fire. The pistol was very controllable and got my attention enough for me to look at the model number; I'm pretty sure it was a model 36. Anyhow; If I were looking for a small lightweight semi-auto for strictly carry purposes, this one would be on my list for consideration. As with many compact pistols in larger calibers, there are those which are made more for carry than they are for shooting. I do require strength in any pistol chambered in the 45 acp cartridge to comfortably handle the lighter higher energy defensive hollow point bullets. I know of one fellow with a very impressive collection of high end custom pistols who carries a lightweight compact Glock 36
I wonder how big Glock would be if not for American Law Enforcement. Most Glock pistols are manufactured for that of the professional law enforcement officer, including the Model 36. Glock has the responsiblitiy and liability to insure their products are safe and reliable. I would read the handgun manuel and follow the recommendations for factory loaded ammunition, using factory magazines. If the manuel does not list enough information on ammunition recommendations, I would email Glock, in Smyrna, Georgia, to obtain a list of recommened cartrridges and ammunition manufacturers. I would print the email response from Glock, and put one copy with the purchase reciept and another with the handgun manuel. Only then would I proceeed with putting the pistol to a significant amount of shooting, using the high energy defensive cartridges.
We really need more information and owner comments on the compact semi-autos, especially the Glock. Alot of trust goes into the purchase of a firearm, especially one designed for personnal protection.

I had a Glock 36 and it shot very well. Never had a single problem. Because of the grip angle of the Glock, it doesn't point naturally for me, but tends to point high. As a result, I sold my G36 and G26 and went to a Springfield XD.

I don't have any experience with the compact, but a pal of mine always brings his full size in .45 (model 21?), and it has been reliable without exception. It's actually more controllable than my P99 chambered in .40.

As a result, I sold my G36 and G26 and went to a Springfield XD./quote] I can't but help wonder if it was the grip angle or the trigger? My XD trigger is around 6lbs, but it feels better than my Glock, which is around 2.5lbs, and I shoot much better with it. I only shot the 36 once. It belonged to an airline pilot who was getting a lot of stovepipes with it. He asked me to shot it to see how it worked for me. Foolishly, I never looked to see what it was until after I pulled the trigger. I assumed it was a 9mm, but I found out differently. I made it through the magazine without any failures, but I wasn't very accurate with it.

TMan,
When I just grab a Glock and hold it comfortably, I could shoot down a satellite before I could hit a target. When I hold it naturally, without aiming, it points high. On the other hand, when I hold the XD naturally, it is pointing straight down the lane. If I hold a Glock against the XD, I can see the larger, obtuse angle of the Glock grip.

Installed one of the pearce +1s and took the G-36 to the range. I put 100 rounds down range using the +1 mag with no problems. Great groups and I can see how this can become my favorite CCW piece. When I got home I installed the other one also. Thanks to all you fellas for the inputs. G

the glock 36 is one of the two firearms i currently own (down from 6-7). i have not been to the range with it in a while, but i'll say this much: it has never failed (none of my glocks ever did), and it always buts the bullet right where it's supposed to go. i also had the 26 (9mm subcompact), but stepped up to the .45 because i like it more, and the imposing image of the .45 barrel in your face is the only thing that will get through to the idiots around where i live (S. Philadelphia).
it sounds like the 36 didn't work for some people. it works for me, and it sounds like it works for you, bigdog.

I believe that is Fobos's CCW of choice, but I could be mistaken. If so, he really likes it.
I don't think Glocks are much to look at, but I never cared much for the looks of the SIGS either and they are some of the best guns money can buy. Same with the Glock. I love my UCII like a child, but now its my G19 at my side.

I love my UCII like a child, but now its my G19 at my side. I'm attracted by the looks of a gun and I can say that the Glock looks good to me everytime one in a cop's duty holster. There is something about the wide grip on a Glock when matched up in a nylon or plastic duty holster. I'm not jokinmg, I am telling the truth. I once thought it had something to do with the almost black accenting uniform but the Glocks looked good when worn in the duty rig without the uniform. Something about the nylon/plastic duty rig and the Glock which seems to look good in it's simplicity. Most of the cops around here wear Glocks and they also wear their pants and duty belts almost chest high. The Grip of the Glock, along with a plastic stun gun, seems to dominate the entire torso of the cop's uniform. Although the Glock looks to be large, because of the grip, it also has an appearance of being lightweight. Want to see a cool duty rig ? Check out Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry episode of "Magnum Force" and check the Colt Pythons out.
