I understand that Walther is debuting a new small handgun, the PPS (pistol police slim) that is about the size of a PPK/s, but chambered in 9mm or .40SW.
I'll post more as I find out...

Below are pictures of the new Walther PPS, same dimensions as a ppk/s, but chambered in either 9mm or .40S&W. Looks to be a polymer frame, and I understand it to be a DAO, partially cocked striker ala Glock. This pic has the frame looking a bit grey. Others I've seen show it in a deep black, ithoug the "first edition" markings. The magazines have varying baseplate lengths, allowing for more purchace on the grip, and a few additional rounds (6, 7, or 8). The removablebackstrap is marketed as a lock of sorts, as the handgun is unusable without it. That is weak, but fine with me. I'm glad they didn't put a keyhole in there somewhere. A bit more info available here: tinyurl.com/29vzwsWalther also introduced a new .22cal handgun, the SP22 Interchangable barrels (4" & 6") and different grips available. Rail options too. Funky looking trigger. More info in the pdf: tinyurl.com/2ga9mt

"Adjustable match trigger". I don't know if I'm getting older and wiser, or just more skeptical. "Adjustable match trigger" could mean that the weight of the trigger is adjustable from 2 to 4 lbs or, what is most likely, the trigger has a 7lb pull and the "over-travel" is adjustable.
I don't think I'll be the first on the block to own one. I want to read some reviews first (and get some money - I only have half of my windows replaced).
Well, if the reviews are good, I probably will be the first on my block to own one. ;D

Wow, a mighty fine example of poor spelling in my last post. Ah well... I think I have a new front runner for the "Timing Light Award" in the SP22 ;D I was more interested in the PPS. The PPS will likely be very light, chambered in a higher energy round, and apparently has a much higher bore axis than the ppk/s. Doesn't sound pleasant to shoot. All of these pics are pre-production though. Perhaps some tweaking will be done.

The PPK's have been cute little handguns, which is why they have been popular in the movies. Well, there may have been a few other reasons for the movies, but there is no one that would say that they are ugly guns. On the other hand, this new gun, in spite of its higher caliber, is just plain esthetically challenged. Did I mention when I contacted Wilson Combat that there weren't any of their Tupperware guns currently available, but they were expecting a shipment... Uhhh, am I missing something here... has Jet Lag taken its toll again? At least with the Walther, you can be pretty much sure that the gun was made by them, or maybe not.

MLB, do you know did Smith and Wesson have a hand in this, or was it all done "in house" by Walther?

From what I garner, this firearm is produced in Germany and will have enough "points" to be imported into the US. I'd imagine that S&W will be the importer as they are with the P99.
Since they no longer make the ppk or ppk/s (S&W makes them now), It's apparently thier way back into the BUG market. They do make a P99compact, but it's not comparable to the ppk/bersa/kahr/kel-tec offerings.
I expect to find it written up in the rags soon. I'm sure they'll find it stunning. ;D
