I have been on a quest for a nice blue 4" Python for several years. I just picked up the pace after becoming inpatient and watching Python prices soar! This is a 1979 vintage. It came with factory rubber grips so I put this set of Hogues on it. It is in good shape, but has a few scratches and blemishes from handling. Action is typical Python sweeeeet!

TA, congratulations on a good buy.
I'm a little surprised that it came with rubber grips. Mine, and the ones I've seen, came with those horrible grips that are narrow on the top and big on the bottom. I put Hogue on mine too.

The grips are known as factory Pachmayr grips and have the gold medallions like the Pythons are supposed to have. They are factory, but I am not sure if they are correct to late 70's 4" blue Pythons. I will start my quest for the correct wood grips. Then it will look like this. The Hogue grips and even the rubber ones are much nicer for shooting.

That sure is nice! I think I like the blued version better than the nickel. Of course you now have one of each.

TA, do you shoot the nickel version? I have one in nickel, but I've never shot it. I only shoot the blued version. I'm afraid of screwing up the nickel one by shooting it.

TMan,
I have shot the nickel one, but I did screw up the nickel when I cleaned it, so I haven't fired it since. I am confident I could safely clean it now that I have learned a hard lesson, but I honestly have so many guns in my safe that haven't been fired since I bought them, that the nickel Python will sit for quite a while.

I'm glad you found it before me. That way I don't have to sell my wife's china to buy it.
Very nice TA. That's exactly the one I'm looking for.

How sweet life can be for those who wait. Nothing quite like a four inch blue Python. I'm very happy for you TA; you are truly a deserving recipient for this revolver.

Ahhhhrgggg! I passed on the chance to buy a beeeuuuutiful 4" Python last year because I didn't have the $$$$ at the time. I should have sat on an exit ramp of the highway and begged, if necessary.
Congratulations on your beauty!
Regards, Ron
