This is a new S&W M629 Trail Boss with a 3" barrel and unfluted cylinder. It is a special RSR run. This would make a great back woods gun! If somebody doesn't buy it, it may end up in my safe. ;D

TA, I didn't realize that the gun was a RSR special is it their: SW163409FC ?
I guess S&W wanted something to compete with the Ruger Alaskan?

Yes, that is the one. I thought I read that it was an RSR exclusive, but I don't see it now.

TA, I didn't realize that S&W did this. I checked Acusport, Camfour, and Sports South, and they don't have it listed. If you go to the Smith-Wesson web-site, they say: "The SKU cannot be purchased at this time". tinyurl.com/2fomprI noticed that they have a fluted version of it too, but they didn't have as much stock. I knew that Davidson's gets special models, but I didn't know that the manufacturers did this for other distributors. Isn't this a way of fixing the prices? Anyhow, I think it is a great find, and you ought to put it in your safe. ;D Tell your wife that the guys on the forum think it is a lot better investment than buying stocks. Especially today. Looks like a rough ride. (I still have a lot of IBM stock too. I could lose more today than my entire gun collection is worth. ;D)

I suppose you'll just have to stick around long enough for it to rebound TMan...
I suppose it's a personal thing, but I never liked the unfluted cylinders. Aside from lightening the firearm, they don't really have much purpose though do they?
