Other than after the range; The largest gun I have concealed and carried was my six inch S&W 586, 357 magnum. I carried this revolver in a Bianchi Phantom X2100 spring type shoulder holster. I've carried N-Frames and Pythons but those are usually four inch barrels. We kinda know now how I got the name "DoubleAction". ;D The Holster on the far left is the Phantom.

Technically I've concealed a 6" Model 27, but that was while hunting. I could conceal an M-16 under that warm jacket.
The largest that I've carried is the P99, which isn't that difficult in the Galco Fletch holster. Good stuff.

Define "big" do you mean physical dimensions of the gun, or do you mean caliber or the round?

Define "big" do you mean physical dimensions of the gun, or do you mean caliber or the round? Physical Dimensions. Six inch barrels have been my limit, but I have a few longer coats and jackets to allow for longer barrels. Four inch revolvers are my favorite, but most of those are bulky. I spent about eight years downsizing my carry guns, until I arrived at the S&W 640, the Sig P-239, and the Wilson CQB compact. After carrying the Sig Sauers, my steel frame pistols seemed too heavy. Because of it's tritium sights,The CQB compact is the only 1911 I've carried for self defense during the past five years. I still carry the revolvers concealed when leaving the range, and most of the time I stop off with my brother at one of the restaurants afterwards.

Full size 1911. Not that it was too bad, but it wasn't comfortable to me. Mainly due to the weight. It's definitely my limit.
