I'm looking into the possibility of reloading my own cartridges for target practice and need to do a bit of research. No better resource than here.
Can you guys steer me in the right direction in terms of reference books and equipment?

MLB; The National Reloading Manufacturer's Association is the very best source for obtaining everything you will need to get started. They have all the catalogs, reloading data, instructional video, and much more. www.reload-nrma.com/

MLB, I've been reloading for over 15 years now, and I started reloading with LEE Loaders and a hammer ;D I would look at getting a single stage press to start out. They're inexpensive and you learn every step in reloading, and you won't have much money invested in it if you decide you don't like reloading. Check out www.fmreloading.com I get all of my reloading stuff from them, except for primers and powder. They have great prices and their shipping prices are good, and so is their customer service.

The hardest thing in reloading , is estimating how much you will shoot / reload .We all end up with boxes full of single stage presses / hand priming tools , which are great and can used for years. Then you get to where 200 rds of pistol ammo a week ,is a nightmare to do on a single stage press. If you shoot / own more than 5 guns regularly ,,and think you will have time and access to a range or open area ,you might as well get a progressive press since the case mouth flare / belling, to seat step ,for handgun ammo slows you down compared to rifle loading, pistol ammo takes 30% more time to load.

I suggest looking around your gun club for a good used loading machine. I picked my Hornaday reloader up for $60.00 from a club member which I think was a decent price. I bought the 4 piece dies for it and away I went with it. I bought 2 primer guns so I don't have to continually switch around the dies in them for the primers. One for the large and one for the small primers. I use the Green cleaning media which works very well in my tumbler. Picked up thousands of empty rounds at the club that others were too lazy to grab. Saved me a ton of money on the brass that way as well.
