Since the barrel's bore on a revolver has to be cleaned from the muzzle, I use a bore guide to protect the crown. This takes two hands in order to keep the bore guide seated, while working a jag or brush through the bore. Making my life much easier, I use a simple inexpensive bench vise. I also use a sheet of rubber which I wrap the grip in prior to placing it in the vise jaws. I use the folded disposable shop towels to catch any solvent run off, and one next to the firing pin port to protect it. From this position of the gun, in the vise, it makes getting in between the forcing cone and top strap easier with a strip of cleaning cloth, with each end of the cloth in each hand, pulling it from one side to the next.
