Well I guess you cant beat the price of ammo at Walmart like you guys said.. Just went there to check it out and came home with a box of 100 Winchester 165 grain FMJ .40 S&W for $15 They look weird to me.. They have the casing surrounding the whole bullet and everything. I guess Im just not used to seeing it this way cuz when I see them in any other picture the copper shell is showing.. oh well.. Here is a pic..

It's hard for me to tell from the picture, but Winchester sells something they call WinClean at WalMart too.
Usually a FMJ bullet is jacketed around the front, and the back lead is visible. The WinClean is put together backwards: i.e. the jacket covers the back and sides, and the front lead is visible. Sort of like a hollowpoint without the hollow. Reportedly, they use a different primer and powder as well that is supposed to reduce the fouling.
I've found it to be cleaner, but more expensive. Since I clean my handguns after range use anyway, it doesn't make that much of a difference to me, and I use the cheaper WWB when it's available.

well im not sure if this is winclean.. The box says winchester 40 S&W 165 Gr full metal jacket target/range serial number USA40SWVP. so this is what FMJ's are suppose to look like? Then maybe the pictures that I have seen online are just showing the FMJ bullets without the full jacket to show the lead or copper inside? could that be a possibility? Thanks

I'm trying to remember from the fired bullets I've seen at the range if the inside of the metal jacket is indeed a different color than the outside.
The WWB I buy looks just like what you have there. They may brass coat the copper jacketed bullet. Either way, it's a metal jacket. Have fun, stay safe.

i think i can clear this up. (we'll see). I use WWB fairly often in 40 S&W. leaving winclean out of the equation, WWB has two weights for the 40. the 180 gr. has the copper color bullet. the lighter 165 gr has always (at least for me) had that brass color bullet. i have never had any trouble shooting that out of my guns. Althought i do prefer 180 gr in the WWB.

Ahhh! Thanks Nbutler. I have always picked up the 180 gram's at Walmart. Never noticed them having the 165 gram's.
