Purchased a brick of Aguila SE (Super Extra) 22 Rimfire from an ammo vendor I have done business with previously at a recent gun show. He talked it up and I had heard about it elsewhere, so I gave it a shot. Trouble is the stuff groups real tight ;D however I have had numerous failure to eject issues . Usually the empty is wedged right on top of the new cartridge in a lengthwise position . What gives?

What are you shooting with? I use Aguila in my Trailside sometimes and I get the fail to ejects couple of times, but I've found that cleaning the pistol regularly does more to correct the problem than anything. When I say regularly, I mean like every 20 rounds or so. I don't have that problem with Winchester or CCI ammo.
I'm guessing that the Aguila is just dirty ammo. I like it too though... sigh.

Flipper; Sounds like the extracter might be slipping off the rim of the empty case during extraction. Could be fouling build up during the shooting session; Try taking along a tooth brush and keeping the extractor hook clean out from time to time. I shot some Aguila 38 Super yesterday and it shot just as good as the Winchester. I usually shoot the CCI Mini Mag stuff when plinking with the 22 rimfires. I did have to change over from a standard 16 lb. recoil spring to an 18 lb in my 38 Super; The Slide wasn't stripping the cartridges from the magazine quite fast enough.

I did extensive testing of .22 ammo in rifles two summers ago. The Aguila hypervelocity was the hands down worst - the least accurate of dozens of types in my three good semiauto rifles, and out of 50 rounds I had two complete multistrike duds. I pulled the bullets and found no priming compound inside. Caca - the same in any language. The surprise result? Federal Lightning, Remington Thunderbolt, and to a slightly lesser extent, Winchester's T-22 Target & Wildcat (bargain ammos) all worked & grouped d**n near as well as the big $$ premium ammos such as Eley Tenex, CCI Green Tag, Federal Gold Medal Match, and Lapua Midas M. The biggest disappointment - RWS/Geco's R-50. Mediocre & far too expensive. CCI was the most functionally reliable across all types, but they're not quite as cheap as the "big three's" bargain bricks at Wal or KMart. Yellowjackets and Stingers were the best of the hyper-hpt varmint types, but not necessarily in every rifle. HTH interesting how different shooters have different results...

The only Aguila I have tried is the 38 super, and I find it to be quite adequete for target practice, I have the Gold Dots in 38 Super for defense. For the money; I prefer the CCI Mini mags for simple plinking in my rimfires. I have some boxes of the Federal Gold Match that cost as much as the .45 acp; I won't be shooting that stuff except on special occassions.

I'm shooting a S & W Model 41, klmhq. Kind of similar to your Trailside, at least in looks. I'll have to try the toothbrush maneuver D/A, the ammo sort of has a funny feel to it IMHO. Seems a bit overly lubed to me, not as bad as some of that Russian stuff but different (Not really dirty maybe greasy) from say CCI. Thanks one & all.

I've started carrying a bore snake (.22 LR) and a can of compressed air when I go shooting the Trailside. It really helps.

However, using the CCI Mini Mag, it has been flawless. I've put 200 rounds through it at a session without any type of cleaning. In fact my Walther PPK/s, in .22LR, was the queen of jams until I switched to the CCI ammo. I've put 300 rounds through it at a single session without a jam or any type of cleaning. Prior to that I seldom could get through a magazine without a jam.
