I know we have some big friends of Georgia Arms here. I'm looking to get some .40S&W ammo. After reading some reviews on www.tacticalforums.com (in the terminal effects section, which i would recommend to anyone and everyone), I have decided on the 180 gr weight in .40S&W and would like some gold dots. Does Georgia Arms make that weight bullet in a HP? I did find a 165 gr GDHP on their site, but no 180gr. any advice? thanks. (oh i almost forgot, I do not want a 180gr +P stuff)

I think the 155- and 165-grain loads may be more incapacitating than the 180 in 40 anyway. You also don't have to worry so much about bullet setback in them as you do in 180. If the bullet gets pushed in ever so slightly in a 180-grain load, pressures soar.
Besides, those light 40 loads are like a .357 Sig Magnum. ;D
Is the Gold Dot bullet a Speer product? I know you can get the Gold Dots in Speer. Does Speer sell their bullet to other cartridge makers?

check out www.ammoman.com165 and 180gr speer gold dots, and many others $120 for 500, $189 for 1000, shipping included. I don't know if this is a good price for them or not, as I currently don't have a .40. www.cheaperthandirt.com usually has a pretty good selection too. Haven't been over there in a while though.

(oh i almost forgot, I do not want a 180gr +P stuff) NButler; I have a large supply of the georgia arms 180 gr. HP in standard loads, which is rated at 950 fps. Their Shear Power plus Gold Dot +P 180 gr. is rated at 1050 FPS. I understand your concern about the pressure issues with the .40 S&W. What I have in stock is what I've had for several years in the standard 180 gr. Ga. Arms, and I do not see it listed in their newer catalog. I have called Georgia Arms about some of their power loads, and other members have also checked with the firearms manufacturer about the use of some of their hunting ammunition. For defense I carry alot of Speer's Gold Dot cartridges in various calibers; 5ontarget has some very good prices quoted with ammoman.
