Looking at the Taurus Thunderbolt .45lc rifle would this be a good round for hunting or is this more for cowboy shooting? Thanks.

The .45 LC was good in the earlier lever actions that were too weak to stand up to the more powerful rifle cartridges. Good with repeating rifles and carbines at close distances; If you ever bump into Custer on the other side, ask him about it.

... If you ever bump into Custer on the other side, ask him about it. ;D ;D ;D Really good one DA; I'll have to remember that. I think the selling point with the .45LC for a rifle is if you are carrying a revolver chambered with it then the same ammo works in both. I think that would be quite an advantage. Having once loaded a 9mm magazine with .32ACP ammo, I think it is a good idea to not carry ammo that you can get mixed up on. I'm careful not to shoot .357 Magnum and .38 Special on the same day because I'm afraid of loading the .38 Specials into the .357 Magnum gun, which would make it harder to clean.

My dad trade a lever action .45 LC for a lever action .38/.357.
My dad wanted Cowboy shooting. The other guy wanted something a little more powerful to hunt wild pigs with. He had used the .38/.357 for hunting pigs.
Both guns were Rossi lever actions.
