For a pistol caliber shot out of a 16" rifle barrel which would be more effective to 150-200 yards if this was the only rifle you had ? .460 Rowland or .38 super? Would either come any were close to a 30-30 or 7,62x39mm? Thanks .

livnhel; Although the .460 Rowland is a very powerful semi-auto cartridge, it only hits the lower end energies of the 44 magnum revolver cartrdge. Distances of 150 yards and more is pressing the confidence of a semi-auto pistol cartridge. At one time Johnny Rowland was offering a carbine conversion for the 1911 with the 460 Rowland cartridge. He was working with Clark Custom Guns with the maufacturing of it. You might be able to get alot more information on the 460 Rowland in the carbine on Clark's site. One thing for sure, the 460 Rowland is extremely powerful in the 1911.

Hi DoubleAction I am thinking of a Mech Tech unit in .460 Rowland . The .460 would be better then .38 super right? Thanks.

Absolutely; The 460 Rowland would be better in energy, velosity, and bullet diameter, a whole lot better. Only certain steel frames of the 1911 can safely handle the conversion of the 460 Rowland.
