quiet rounds?

hello everyone. anyway, years ago my dad worked for a gun enthusiast, and they had what he just called as quiet rounds. they were .22s and you could shoot and no one could hear it -- well it was silenced anyway. he only gave him two rounds of these bullets and i haven't since heard anymore about it. im new to the internet publicity of the firearm hobby, and i figure if anyone can help its you guys, but im just wondering if anyone has heard of this and where i could get some and if they offer this in 9mm or any other round size

somery; Those are low signature 22 cartridges are referred to as subsonic; They are low velosity. I have seen these selling in one of the specialty ammunition catalogs.

Lapua Subsonic HP is a low noise hunting cartridge. Originally designed for use with silencers, Subsonic HP fires a hollow point bullet at less than the speed of sound even when fired from long barreled firearms. Since the bullet isn't cracking through the sound barrier, it makes less noise. An excellent choice where noise is a concern.
