just wondering if heavy heaps of ammo stored away (good temperature and dryness) for years and years would ever eventually stale out, or shoot bad or be explosive. A friend probably has 50,000 rounds (im taking a wild guess, but its HUGE) of various ammo, some dating back to 1992 i believe....rifle(like 30-06), handgun (9mm,45, so forth) and shotgun shells ...do these get explosively old after 15 years or so? federal, blazer and winchester.

somery; I've known of one older gentleman who served in WWII to take out his 1911A1 and shoot the same ammunition he had saved since the war. I have some ammunition put away, that I keep in the plastic cases and a controlled environment; All of the primers have sealant. Time would be a enemy to ammunition if moisture is involved; I have ammunition that I've kept in storage since 1983. I bring 100 rounds of it out to shoot on certain occassions and it seems to be as it was new.

I have some military ammo from the 1940's that shoots fine. As long as it is kept in a dry enviroment or sealed well, it will be fine.
