I've read several places that you should never reverse directions inside the bore with copper brushes because it will ruin them. However, does the same thing apply with nylon brushes? Brownells has cleaning rod stops ( www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/productdetail.aspx?p=7921&s=20091 ), which will keep the jag/patch in the bore. Cool idea, and it leads me to wonder about using it with nylon brushes and scrubbing inside the bore with them.

Neat idea, but I think I'd stop by the hardware store and pick up a nylon washer of some sort (for a few cents) before shelling out $14 +S&H for what amounts to the same thing.
I don't think you'd have the same problem with nylon brushes that you would with copper. Seems to me that the nylon would rebound where the copper would kink. YMMV.

You would have to have some type of nylon bushing, then drill and thread it and have something to screw into the bushing in order to hold it to your cleaning rod.
Our only real hardware store, Elliots, in Grapevine, closed, which has really limited what I can do. If I drive to the one in Dallas, I've burned 4 gallons of gas @ $3.19/gallon. So the price from Brownells wasn't too bad. I ordered some other stuff so shipping wasn't much.

The bronze brushes I use are usually too tight for me to reverse in the bore. I have used oversized nylon brushes to clean chambers and cylinders out, and they get reversed and twisted and turned in the process without damaging the brush.
I have also used a shotgun bronze brush on a drill to clean the chamber of an old Mosin Nagant that had a really sticky bolt. After a little work with the powered brush, the stickiness nearly went away.
Tman, I used to drive about an hour one way to buy my milsurp ammo. I'd usually buy a couple cases, (and a rifle. Hey I had to make it worth the drive!) With the price of gas, I pay UPS to deliver now. I just ordered about 100lbs of ammo, and it cost $16 to deliver.
