After getting the CZ working now the question of re-blueing (sp?) it. While I was at Bass Pro Shops (they had 10% off on all ammo) I noticed a Birchwood Casey "Complete Perma Blue... Kit".
Has anyone ever tried one of these? Do I dare?

What concerns me the most is that I could end up with a splotchy finish. How did yours look - is it an even finish?
(My Polyurethane finish on the TOZ-35M looks like crap.)

Surprisingly, it came out rather well as I recall. I'll have to dig it back out tonight and take a more critical look, but I know I wasn't displeased with it. The air rifle isn't exactly a prized possesion though. Considering that I was finishing the (long) barrel and receiver, and you're finishing a shorter chunk of steel, I don't think you'd have a problem with an uneven finish.
Pictures of blued finishes are difficult, moreso for a lousy picture taker like myself. I'll give it a try. You've got me thinking now... I've always disliked the painted finish on the receiver of that Henry rifle of mine. That's one of my favorite rifles though. I think I might order a replacement cover for it and try to blue it.

Oops. I think I remember why I haven't tried this yet. If I recall correctly, it's aluminum. Not so good for bluing.

It isn't hard to do, and different people seem to have different success rates with different brands. Some have tweaked the application some to give it more of a blue-black look than a blue. I've had better success with blue wonder's kit. Others have done better with th BC stuff. I use the Blue Wonder kit with good results (covering up after some rust removal). The cold blue is not as durable as the hot dipped stuff. MLB - try duracoat - www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/productdetail.aspx?p=17640&st=duracoat&s=brownell's alumahyde - designed for painting aluminum www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=1117&title=ALUMA-HYDE~%20IIor gunkote also by brownells TMan, you could do the same, if you didn't want to mess with the cold blue. Then you could pick your color too.
