(Sorry folks. During the NFL offseason I get bored as heck. I'm just in a facetious mood... )
In times like these, when it is so difficult to find a realistic-looking watergun, firing the E-AK is like taking a step back into history. It's black finish and detachable magazine really give it that authentic feel. This is the kind of watergun that realy makes you feel like it's time for battle.
The first thing I noticed when I pulled the trigger for the first time was that this is not a very accurate gun. In fact, at 30 ft I was shooting nearly 5 ft to the right. I took a needle from one of my sewing kits and adjusted the nozzle, only to find that my range was reduced, though the accuracy was indeed improved. I think the tradeoff was worthwhile.
The trigger is set at about 1 lb, and is very smooth. The four AA batteries provide more than enough power to the pumping mechanism, which throws quite a bit of H2O at the target. The rate of fire is not what I expected though. I estimate that the full-auto rate puts out only about 80 bursts of water per second. Unfortunately, manually squeezing the trigger repeatedly yields a faster rate of fire. Obviously this is not a good thing since it causes the trigger finger to tire quickly.
It's been said that these guns don't offer enough "stopping power"... but I didn't find that to be the case. When testing the gun on my cat, not only did she stop in her tracks, but she ran into the other room for nearly 30 minutes. That is all I ask for in a watergun.
Overall, I give the E-AK a rating of 8/10.
