I have put over 400 rounds through my ruger since i got it in july. it has never misfired, and it only jammed up one time because i was using crappy russian ammo in a crappy 30 round mag that didn't always feed right. the gun is accurate and faithful and has served me well. anyone else have one?

Dieff, More info if possible. My son is considering one and I haven't tried them. Does it come with Post-Ban magazines yet?

My best friend has the stainless version of that pistol. It's built like a tank, and never jams. Not spectacularly accurate, but it's accurate enough for a duty/carry gun. I like slim guns like the Hi-Power and 1911, but I find this gun to be a lot more ergonomic than it looks. I find the trigger to be comparable to a Beretta, for whatever that's worth. I think they're great if you like a SA/DA or DAO automatic. I like SA autos, but, if I had to choose a SHTF SA/DA auto, I'd pick this one over the Beretta, strictly for its reliability and rugged build.

I have the "special edition" P89. www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAProdView?model=3005&return=YThe difference is that it comes with one mag, houge grips and a different finish. I don't have an exact round count, but it is probably close to 1000-1200. I do not recall ever having any failures of any kind with it. It has eaten numerous varieties of Fed, Rem, Win ammo. Goes bang every time. Fit and finish are typical ruger, not stellar, but certainly good. The slide/frame are a little loose. Not Hi-point, or Llamma loose, but not Kimber tight either. I do have a little uneven wear on the gun. The trigger takes a while to break in, and then is pretty good in SA, DA is a really hard pull. (Sorry no guage to measure the actual pull, but it is really hard on my particular gun.) The gun has pretty big grips, ergonomics work well for me. I wear a large glove, long fingers, medium sized palm. The gun shoots well, bullets go where I point the gun. I need to practice more with it in DA, and get some trigger work done though...definitely shoot it better in SA. Accuracy for me is good, not target competition good (I don't think I shoot that great anyway), but definitely good enough for defence purposes. Durable, reliable, accurate. I think 9mm has a P89 as well. (I'm talking about the member 9mm, not the caliber, yes I know P89 is 9mm so no smart comments please ;D If it doesn't come with Hi-caps (now full capacity mags , they are easy to find, and not very expensive. I have a couple aftermarket 17-18rd that I bought, during the ban, for less than $25, and they have fed flawlessly with no modifications. They fit flush with the gun btw, no overhang.

well i just traded my p89 on a glock 31 357sig. i liked the ruger but the glock is just a better fit for me. the p89 is a nice gun, especially for the money.
