Well, I got the two pistols cleaned up and took them to the range today.
The CZ 82 is a 12+1 capacity 9x18 Makarov, fixed barrel, steel framed gun. It has ambidextrous safety and magazine release, slide release is on the left side of the gun. The slide locks open on an empty magazine. The barrel has polygonal rifling. The trigger is a DA/SA
I cleaned up the CZ82 first. It is pretty easy to field strip. Drop the magazine, clear the gun, pull the trigger guard down and a little forward until it releases, pull the slide back and lift it off the rails, control the slide as you let the recoil spring relax. The full manual for the CZ83 can be found here. (The CZ83 is the civilian version of the 82, but available in a wider caliber selection, if I've read things correctly.) www.cz-usa.com/data/downloads/support_manuals/CZ_83.pdf
I've listed the dimensions of the 83, taken from CZ's web page, as I don't believe they differ from the 82 that I own.
Weight 1.8 lbs
Overall Length 6.8 in
Barrel Length 3.8 in
Height 5 in
Width 1.4 in

I shot the CZ82 using Silver Bear HP's. There were some sparks shooting out of the gun that were a little distracting initially. I'm sure it is the ammo, however, I didn't bring any other ammo to the range today to verify that. The gun functioned flawlessly with the 100rds I fed it today. I was able to tear a ragged hole at 7yds, and kept the groups at 2" at 15yds (all offhand). I didn't try any farther distances than that. I figure this was a good for a first day. The trigger pull is smooth but pretty long, especially in DA mode (duh), with some stacking at the end. The trigger itself is very wide and has a smooth face. The sights were right on. Recoil was minimal, thanks to a heavy gun and a fairly small cartridge. I'm glad I bought a case of ammo, cause this is a little gun that is fun to shoot.
