Well guys I got to take out the AR15 the other day, for the first time since I put the Target Sports 4x12x42 scope and handle mount on it. I didn't have a chance to have it bore sighted, so I decided to try it out at 50 yards. I fired 3 shots, and checked my target, no holes I tried a few more shots at a can on the ground at 50 yards, I was hopeing through my scope that I could see the dirt fly up so I could tell if it was way left or right. No luck, so I took all my gear over to the 25 yard range and fired 1 round, it was about 14 inches low at 25 yards. I made some adjustments, and 3 shots later I was in the bullseye, but time was up and I had to leave. I was kind of wondering where that would put me at 100 yards, and how much elevation adjustment my scope had left. Is it normal for an AR15 A2 with a handle mount and scope to shoot low to begin with?

I made some adjustments, and 3 shots later I was in the bullseye, but time was up and I had to leave. One of the nice things about joining a sportsman's club is that you're never pressed for time. You can stop by on the way home and touch off 50 rounds or so to keep sharp, or spend a few hours tinkering with sights. No pressure. The last time I went out with BlackDog and DocGlock, we went to a range and paid by the hour. It was a good time, but I felt like I was wasting time by loading magazines. |

Mountaineer; If your Ar was hitting center at 25 yds. with the iron sights, things are going to change with the handle mounted scope. One reason is your cheek weld will be higher on the stock;That is one reason for the flat top rails, using the 1 inch high scope mounts. For the handle mounted scope mount you can obtain a Delta Cheekpiece to raise comb height.
If your hitting center at 25 yds., the trajectory of the bullet will be hitting higher at 100 yds; Which means, If your scope is adjusted for center at 100 yds from the begining, the bullet impact will be low at 25 yds initially on that setting.
