With all the positive remarks, and reports I've read on the .357 sig, I'm considering buying a conversion barrel for my xd .40. Any recommendations as to what company to buy from.
Thanks for your help.

The outer dimentions must match with that of either barrel. I am very familiar with the Sig Sauer conversions, and always use the factory barrels. I wish the two of you could get together and see if your barrels will interchange with one another. Another option is to get in touch with the manufacturer, or go to your favorite dealer and ask to see if one of the other barrels for your pistol drops in for a match.

well, so far I've found a site that sells recoil reducers for a number of guns, and compensated barrels for many makes as well. They do have a 9mm, and .357 sig conversion for the .40, but it looks like they are all compensated barrels. I've put a call and email into Springfield. www.norecoil.com/abarrel.htm$180 barrel $60 buffer system or $210 for both S/H and tax not included

To answer my own question...I heard back from Springfield this morning. This is what they said "Bbls are interchangeable. You would have to get an aftermarket bbl from Barsto, and it may require some minor gunsmithing." www.barsto.com/$200-215 +S/H, tax

5ontarget; I went to the barsto site but did not see any conversions for the Springfield XD; did you see any?

I looked there too to see if they made one for the P99, but no info. I sent them an email.

Springfield doesn't have a thumbnail like the other brands on the page. Look above the thumbnails a little and you'll see a hyperlink for new products, springfield is listed there, but according to the web page, it won't ship until December. For those interested, they will have a 6" barrel for the XD.
