I just thought I'd let all interested know that SA Custom Shop did a fantastic job on my 5" Mil Spec M1911A1. They did a lot of detail work that I neither asked nor payed for, and the execution of all is top-notch. I had all small components replaced with high quality aftermarket parts, mostly from Ed Brown. The slide was cut for the Heinie serrated ramp front sight with tritium insert. The trigger was set at 4lbs, with very little take-up, and almost no overtravel. The Ed Brown weld-on magwell was blended seamlessly with the frame. It adds no length, and makes hasty mag insertion smooth and easy by doubling the target area for the incoming mag. I asked them to keep the carry bevel on the mild side, and you can scarcely tell it's been done without touching the weapon. Not too many people like a parkerized gun the way I do, but I will say that Springfield is doing the nicest park jobs around. I didn't order any accuracy work, as the pistol was a tackdriver straight out of the box, but they did go ahead and do a nice polish on the chamber, throat, and feed ramp. They took care of a number of minor cosmetic flaws without my asking (such as making the back of the slide perfectly flush with the frame, whereas it was merely very close to flush before). The interior was completely deburred and smoothed. My poor photography cannot do her justice, but here is a pic of my Mil Spec, Valentine, with her little accomplice, Gigolette (my IWB gun).

Seraph; I've read enough about Springfield's Custom Shop to respect the fact that they build their own pistols, using the best parts available from other manufacturers. This is rare among other manufacturers of the 1911. Their highly respected HRT model has a Nowlin Match barrel and a Wilson Grip safety if I'm not mistaken.

Nice looking guns. I have never heard anything but good comments on SA's custom shop. I like a lot of springfields offerings, a good mix in the 1911's and available at nearly every price point for the 1911. Not as many/confusing as Kimber, I think I got lost looking at their catalog...Tman know what I'm talking about.
