My brother and I have had troulbe with the Sig 229 pistols feeding the flat nose FMJ from Winchester and Aquila. This totally turned my brother against the Sigs because of the failure to feed issue with the flat nose bullets. Sigs have always been known for feeding about any bullet until now. The feed ramp feeds the bullet toward the upper portion of the chamber, where it changes direction as it is pushed further into the chamber by the force of the slide. The sharp step leading into the chamber, where the ramp meets with the fully supported chamber, contributes to the drag of the cartridge case while being chambered. At the top of the chamber, the flat nose bullet becomes wedged and this causes the failure to feed. I have decided to polish on the step leading into the chamber in order to improve feeding. I have done this to all my .40 S&W barrels, including the 229 Sport, and went one step further in doing the same thing with my P-220 in 38 Super. At this point I am not removing any metal, other than using a light polishing tip to smooth the very sharp edge of the step. I
