I finally got around to installing the Harrington firing pin and detent in the CZ-52. I actually have two of these and the one, which is still in cosmoline is untouched. The other - I fired and stored because the trigger was 10.5lbs.
The Harrington kit comes with a new firing pin, a spring for the firing pin (novel idea), a detent and a detent spring.
The original detent has two purposes: to hold the firing pin in place and to serve as a firing pin safety. The replacement only holds the firing pin in place. To be honest: it really confused me how it went in and worked.
The results: 4.5lbs trigger pull. Not exactly what I would call competition, but I can live with it. I went back to the cosmoline baby and checked its trigger to be sure, and sur'nough (Southern term I've learned) it is 10.5lbs.
Six pounds for $45 - yeah, that is almost half of the $98 that I paid for the pistol, but it made it shootable.
