I have a Marlin Camp Carbine 9mm rifle, and a S&W 5906 9mm. Both are 9mm's, both are semi auto's, and both can use the same magazines.

I have been thinking about this for a while. I am thinking of either a 9mm ruger, since I already have that flavor of handgun. But I have been looking at some of the .357 and to a lesser extent .44mag. I don't have either in a handgun. I have been "needing" a .357 revolver for a while as well, maybe for Christmas or birthday. Maybe a matching set. ;D The .44 has been lingering in the back of my mind for some time as well. I wonder if there is a .357sig long gun? probably not much demand for it...

5ontarget, What about a Ruger PC9 9mm carbine to go with your P89. You can use the same magazines and ammo.

My original thoughts were between the marlins and the rugers. Currently I am leaning toward the Ruger, as you and I said, I have the P89. I have the appropriate mags, and a few hi-caps as well. Never shot a ruger carbine before. I think the rugers are around $500 plus or minus, and the .357 marlins run about $100 more, and I don't have a matching pistol. Thinking more about this the ruger seems more attractive at the moment. The rabbit, racoon and groundhog population has really been growing exponentially here this past year. Maybe I could use this as another pest control gun. Not to mention, I'll bet it is fun to shoot.

5ontarget, shooting pistol caliber carbines is a lot of fun and the Ruger sounds like a good idea. Here awhile back CDNN had Ruger carbines which were police trade ins, I think for around $325. When I talked to Mike Smisko a few month's ago he told me he helped design the Ruger Carbines, and they were designed to handle the 44 Mag. cartridge. He said they would last a lifetime

Hello all. I just came across these boards and they looked like someplace good to be. I have some questions on the subject of pistol caliber carbines. I've read some bad reviews on the Ruger Camp Carbine, cracking buffers, unplanned bursts of full auto fire, that sort of thing. Not good! I was wondering if anybody had ever seen/fired .45 ACP models. I see that Beretta makes one, the Cx4. I also found reference to one by H&K, the USC. Any info on these or any other .45 ACP carbines would be appreciated.
