I have shot about 150 rds with the Hi-point 9mm rifle .The accuracy is better then expected for a budget price rifle.I have had no problems at all, every round fired . I had the rifle fall onto the front sight it broke .Called Hi-point to order a new one no questions asked no charge for sending me new one.
One complaint ..they only have a 10 rd mag ,kinda cheesy but it works.

I've shot a Hi-point 9mm carbine as well. Similar results. I was surprised at how accurate it was. I was expecting a 4" group at 75 yds. The trigger was pretty clunky, and fairly hard to pull. But, I expected that on a $150 plastic gun, with a plastic trigger. The gun was reliable for the 100-150rds I fired. Recoil was minimal, but more than I expected for a 9mm. The rear sight did have to be nearly maxed out in one direction to get it sighted in. (Then the owner went and put a cheap red-dot on it. I cannot see the stinking red dot, so I'm done shooting it.) I have heard a number of police departments have used them as well. First impressions: kinda funny looking. Feels kinda funny and clunky too, maybe a little cheap too (but that may be because I'm used to holding real wood stocks on my long guns.) Trigger: as stated above, pretty hard pull, clunky, with a little gritty feel as well. (this has improved some with firing). Initial range report: accuracy surprised me, I was shooting with a simple forearm rest and was able to get a ~2" group with iron sites at 75yds. I didn't measure it, just a guess. Pretty good for me, as the front sight almost completely covered the bullseye of the target I used.
I never had to clean it, that's the great thing about shooting with a friend and borowwing his gun. I did look at a diagram of it, and it looks like it'd be a mother to detail. The owner told me that the dealer he bought it from told him to send it to Hi-Point after a few thousand rounds, and let them do it. Tell them it is having a bunch of FTF, and they'll clean it. Other than that just a bore brush/cleaner, boresnake.
Final thoughts: A fun plinker, probably make a decent short range varmint gun(within 100yds). For $150+/- not a bad little gun, but I'll stick with my .22s for the same purposes. I like the idea of the pistol caliber carbine, but I can't find a justifiable reason to own one. Not enough power for hunting, until you get to the .357, .44 calibers, and costs much more than .22 for plinking, not enough power for mid/long range shooting, and I don't need one for home defence.
