I recently put some new sights on my Yugo SKS. I was originally going to put on the new ts2000 from techsight. www.tech-sights.com/I decided against this because I'm lazy, and wanted a system that would not make cleaning/disassembly any more difficult. I know it is only a couple of screws, but as I said, I'm lazy. It is a great system, fully adjustable rear sight. So onto simpler, more convenient designs. That led me to Mojo sights. www.mojosights.com/ They have a peep sight that replaces the original rear sight blade, and it too is adjustable for elevation and windage, just not with detents/clicks. (although there are micro click adjustable sights for many other guns, just not the SKS) Also available are different sized aperture inserts. Now for the front sight. I bought the Williams firesight. It is a fiber optic replacement for the front sight post. It did not drop in on my Yugo, and I have to file the sides some to get it to fit. No big deal. I've heard it fits other sks' without modification. This thing is bright! I'm glad I spent a few extra buck on it over the pack of 5 colored plastic replacement posts. www.williamsgunsight.com/Williams also makes a rear sight, and you can buy them as combo set with the front sight. It would have been cheaper for me to buy them as the set, but I liked the mojosight better for the rear. Here are a few pics, all are indoors.

5ontarget, I don't normally think of my SKS's (3) as target rifles. I'm wondering how much better you shoot with the new sights than you did with the old ones.
On some of my rifles I have noticed, as I have on some pistols, that it is hard to visually pick-up and focus on the front sight.
I don't know how old you are, I'm 60+, but as we get older, it becomes harder and harder to focus on the front sight. Usually around the age of 40 people discover that they have a little trouble focusing on the printed page.
Being that I'm near-sighted, I have always worn glasses. My vision at 1' is 20x15, but at 1'5"... I couldn't understand initially how I could see better up close without my glasses until my doctor explained that as you get older your focus mechanism in your eyes kind of drys up and doesn't work as well. With my glasses on, I become like a normal person and have the focal point out in the distance. Therefore, my focus mechanism doesn't work as well, and I needed bi-focal and finally tri-focals.
So, as we get older it becomes harder and harder to focus on that front sight. Maybe with that big fiber optic front sight on the front of the 460 XVR, I'm able to finally focus properly and I shoot it better than anything else.
