The place where I bought my C&R rifles last year was local, which made it nice because I could handpick them myself. However, a couple of months ago I noticed they didn't have much less. I'm still looking for them to get more Persian Mausers in stock and they told me to check their web-site. I've been checking it and found their listing went from 3 pages to 1 page, and now there are only 8 entries on that page. It isn't a case of them just not updating their web-site because they told me that they update it several times a day. www.mgsdfw.com/shop/category.asp?catid=C%26R%20RIFLESSo, I'm wondering if there is now a shortage of C&R rifles. Some of you have local places too; have you noticed any shortages?

It isn't just local dealers. The big online dealers/importers don't seem to have much in stock either, unless you want a M44, 91/30, or SKS. There are a few German Mausers, Turks, and Yugo mausers out there. The Enfields have really started to dry up, as are the M48s. Some of the smaller dealers still have some of the "older" imported stuff still in stock. That's the downside of Military surplus, you never know how many more are coming, what their condition will be, or how much more ammo will be available. I haven't seen too many Persian Mausers recently. If I remember right they also had a heck of a bayonet, something on the order of 20"-24". I'd imagine right about May/June there will be a bunch of new surplus hitting the market. I'm hoping for some nice condition RC K98's. You may also want to have your dealer get on the mailing lists of many of the importers/dealers like SOG, AIM, Century, Sarco, Samco, Interordnance, etc. They often have stuff in their flyers/emails that is not on the webpage. Or If you have your 03FFL, they'll send them to you directly. I know samco still has some (others may have them too)... You can get an unissued, new with test target for $650, unissued without target for $600, $400 for excellent, and $200 for VG. I've never ordered from Samco, so I can't speak about their guns, service, etc. www.samcoglobal.com/rifles.html#m9829Their prices are a little high on some of their other listing. I don't know what the current rate for a Persian Mauser is, so I can't tell you if it is a good price or not. Modified to add: I was checking on one of the other sites and there is one for sale, with more detail then Samco. His prices are higher, but he post and describes each gun individually. www.empirearms.com/

5OT, thanks for all the info. When MGS in Fort Worth had the Persian Mausers they were around $200 and in excellent condition. They sure didn't last long. He had a single one a few weeks ago that he said he would come down to $900, but I couldn't see that and I had the Remington XR-100 on my mind.
I think I have $250 in my 98 now with the new trigger, and a lot of work on the stock. I wouldn't have traded it for the XR-100. In other words, I wouldn't sell it - I'm now emotionally attached. I've found that it is safer being emotionally attached to guns than it is to plants. I lost a lot this past winter with the drought and me being in China and plants not getting watered. Fortunately, the Cross Vine and Desert Willows I planted made it, but I lost nearly all of the Carolina Jasmine. Whoa, major league thread drift.
