The Safariland #101 makes use of a wide elastic strap, rather than a spring, to retain tension pressure on the revolver's cylinder. I've found this to be much friendlier on the Blued and Nickel plated revolvers when holstering and deploying. The lack of metal hardware for thumb snaps also eliminates the possibilities of scratches to the cylinder during deployments. I'm most fond of this holster because it works with my N-Frame, and L-Frame 4" Smith & Wessons, and my 4" Colt Python; It will also work with the K-Frame S&W, and a few other revolvers. I've had this holster for ten years and find it most useful in concealing my revolvers with the right kind of cover. It also works good if I'm carrying one of my semi- autos on the right side of my belt. This holster is suede lined with a front sight channel incorporated into it's design. The revolver shown is my 4" S&W model 27; The tapered barrel works excellent when deploying from this holster.

Did you put a n frame in it, S&W 29, 44 mag? .....N-Frame, 4", S&W Model 27, .357 magnum. I originally purchased the holster for my Colt Python, and when bought my 27, I found that it would fit in it too. The Elastic help to retain the over sized N-Frame.
