Holster Review
Blade Tech Ultimate Concealment Holster (UCH)
Gun: Glock 19
Purchased From: Top Gun Supply
My first impression of this holster was a good one. Aesthetically it is very well made. No sharp corners or abrasive surfaces, and a great fit for the gun it was intended for. The inside of the holster is polished and almost glass-like which aids in the guns draw and holstering.
There is a reassuring “click” when the gun is slid into the holster and that is the sound of the holster securing itself around the weapon. There is also a reassuring “click” when the gun is drawn from the holster and that is the gun freeing itself from the rig.
The gun is held inside the holster with a pretty tight fit (this can be adjusted in either way but I am very happy with its stock setting) and almost seems like it would be too tight until you have the holster on a belt and actually draw the weapon. The gun comes right out in a draw despite the fact that it is held in there as tight as it is. The gun comes out with no more than usual effort and it comes out fast. From a drawing standpoint this holster is one of the fastest I have ever used.
Comfort is outstanding so far. I had avoided kydex thus far because many people seem to hold to the opinion that it is uncomfortable. For me so far it is anything but uncomfortable. I’ve worn it several times already twice for more than eight hours at a time and have experienced no discomfort. This might change in warm weather, but I don’t look for it to. If it does I’m sure some moleskin on the back will take care of this in short order. A $3.00 fix. If needed I can live with that.
The main thing it has to its advantage is its thin profile. The holster barely adds any girth to the gun at all. And it does this with an open top that stays open upon drawing the weapon for easy re-holstering.
My only complaint with the entire system (an admittedly small one) is its belt clip/hook thingy. Unless I’m missing something the belt has to be slid through the clip and there is no way to put the holster on or take it off without removing your belt. It looks like maybe it was made to do so, but I’m not sure. It’s an odd looking design. Right now I put UCH on the belt and then put the belt on. It provides excellent stability though. That isn’t an issue.
Overall I’m very impressed and feel great about the UCH. It is an aesthetically pleasing, functional, fast, stable, and comfortable holster. For someone whom wasn’t sure about the kydex revolution to be as pleased as I am has to say something.
On a side note, Top Gun Supply (TA) has a bang up gig going over there. Excellent service and excellent products. I’m very impressed.
