Only knowing of this pistol, I've never became very familiar with it until my brother brought this specimen over last week. Holding this pistol, and working it's controls and trigger, told me alot of it's quality and strength. The fit of the pistol's steel frame and slide is like fusion, and the controls are that of precision fittted components. It's difficult to talk about this pistol without spilling an opinion; It has that kind of effect.
The front strap squeeze cocker serves the purpose of cocking the firing pin striker, in order to provide a light trigger in a safe condition for carry. I would probably call this method of carry, Uncocked, Locked, and loaded.
Contributing to accuracy and reliabily is it's frame mounted fixed barrel and patented gas operated delayed blow back system, which delays the recoil of the slide until the bullet exits the barrel.
The dove tailed mounted, front and rear, three dot sights provides easy target aquisition.
This pistol displays smoothness throughout it's external steel frame and slide, with no sharp edges.
It's very rare to find such a specimen among the garden variety of pistols manufactured by current production and engineering standards. This pistol is, without any doubt, a high end professional grade handgun, manufactured to a standard beyond that of most handguns found on this planet. The P7 is testimony to the fact that Germans have and will continue to view the pistol as a primary weapon which can be easily be concealed.
