One of the most widely known firearms as portrayed on film is the Walther PPK in many of the James Bond series.
The current PPK as manufactured by S&W is most commonly chambered in .380 auto. Bond's was depicted as a blued PPK, chambered in .32.
Not as commonly known, Bond's first handgun was a Beretta .25. It was replaced during the first film Dr. No.
The current Bond gun is the P99.

The Bond films made so many return engagements to the big screen, it was unreal. They would often run as long as six months for each rerelease at the downtown theaters before running at the smaller theaters. Dr. No & From Russia with Love didn't become popular until after Goldfinger was released, it was then that people were treated to a double dose of Bond while Thunderball was in production. The Walther PPK became as well known to the general public, who followed the Bond films, as the Aston Martin DB5 they issued to Bond in Goldfinger. The Bond films brought a certain elegance to the big screen, along with it's collection of women, and a frig full of Dom Perignon.
