Few guns become the star of it's own series, especially when Steve McQueen gets top billing on the credits. This is one of the non firing toy replicas manufactured during the late fifties

I remember wondering: "Is it the mare's leg or the mayor's leg?" back when that show was on. Was it Wanted Dead or Alive?

Callahan; I wish I could tell you that you just won a brand new 2005 Ford Mustang GT; Instead I'll just have to say your are right. This unique Bounty Hunter gun worn by Steve McQueen's character, Josh Randall, was known as the Mare's Laig. A fellow was reproducing these a few years ago, made from actual rifles, but they were non functioning in order to be legal to own. He even had the holster rig, same as the one worn in the television series. I have an article this gun somewhere, along with the information on the cartridges they used as props in order to accent the visual effect of the rig. When I was a kid I would watch every episode, hoping to get a chance to see him shoot off a few rounds from it.
