Anyone who has ever seen Quigley Down Under, with Tom Selleck, can't help but appreciate the impressive presentation of the Sharpes Rifle by Selleck. For me, this seems to be the beginning of what makes me stick to watching the rest of the movie over and over.
This Rifle used in the movie was one of three that was custom built by the Shiloh Rifle Manufacturing Company of Big Timber, Montana. The rifle's buttstock was custom fitted for a 15 1/4" length of pull for Selleck. These rifles were chambered for the longest cartridge, which the Sharpes Rifle Company ever put into a rifle. The cartridge was known at the time, as the .45 2 7/8", with the case length being 2 7/8", also known today as the .45 - 110, the .45 meaning caliber and 110 grains of black powder for the charge. Bullet weight was usually 500 to 550 grains.1874 SHARPS BUFFALO RIFLE--"THE QUIGLEY"

Great movie, reminds me to go look for it on Ebay. I love the ending of that movie with the final showdown, lol Also I like how a favorite villain of mine is in there, "Hans" form Die Hard. MHS

I'm with you. I've lost track of how many times I've watched Die Hard. Although I own it, everytime I see it on Stars, I watch it again.
See if I were to load it, and my wife was home, she would complain. Watching it on Stars she complains, but not as much because I can't just watch it anytime, I have to watch it when it is available. (The TIVO hasn't dawned on her). ;D

Pedersoli actually produces over 25 different models of the Sharps rifles from all vintages. Thats a very large slug that gun is shooting with only 110 gr's of Black Powder. I normally shoot just 60 gr's with a 45 cal round ball.110 is usually the max we shoot in a Black Powder old style rifle. No. 2 or grade 3 powder actually works very well. Virtually NO kick at all with a set trigger setup.
