Some might remember this movie, with Arnold Swartzineger and the AMT Longslide Hardballer 1911. I actually have a write up on this pistol in an article from "Handgun Tests" in 1982. Because stainless was not widley used on the 1911s at the time, many claimed that the stainless had a tendancy to gaul. This required a special lubricant to be used on the pistol in order to prevent gauling. This pistol featured a trigger with a 4.5 lb. pull, which looked the same as the Gold Cup trigger. It also had an extended thumb safety. We are talking about 1982, a time when Colt completely dominated the 1911 in this country. The accuracy results, from the tests in this publication were far better than that of Colt's Gold Cup, with 50 yd. groups between 0.8" to only one with 2.4", with most being below 1". The approximate MSRP for this pistol, at the time, was $625., with Colt's Gold Cup at $560. The barrel Length on the Longslide was 7 ".
