Well, the PF-9 finally made its way home from vacation at the Cocoa, Fla., Kel-Tec factory yesterday, the 21st. It was soaking up son and sweat from about May 27 until July 15, when it was shipped back.
According to the accompanying paperwork, it's almost a new pistol. Here's what they did, all covered by warranty:
New frame New mag release button New barrel New slide New magazine Test fired
Looks like I have to break it in all over again. It looks brand new and I hope it shoots well.
Introduced it to its slightly bigger cousin, the Walther PPS. THe K-T is still noticeably lighter and smaller.
I think the PF-9 will become my everyday gun, traveling in the truck while I'm running errands

Callahan; Looks like a completely new pistol. with the exception of the detailed parts. Does the serial number match with the pistol that you sent in for repair ?

Callahan; Looks like a completely new pistol. with the exception of the detailed parts. Does the serial number match with the pistol that you sent in for repair ? It's weird. The more I look at it, the more I think I have a new pistol here. It does have the same serial number, but I think it may be my serial number struck on a new pistol. What most gunmakers would call a polymer frame, K-T calls the "grip." It looks new. The serial numbered part is the aluminum chassis that rests inside the fiberglass-reinforced nylon housing, or grip. The number seems to be struck cleaner and neater than on my old chassis, plus there are no signs of wear on it from the slide riding back and forth. I had fired the old pistol more than 100 times. Barrel and slide are obviously new, no signs of wear. Mag release is now metal, not plastic. Magazine is new. I read on Kel-Tec's Web site that they now claim to be the third largest pistolmaker in the U.S. I'm looking for a good self-defense ammo that is not +P. It can take that type ammo but not on a regular basis. I'm not going to push it.
