Wow ;D Why did I spend all that money on those 1911's? I'm sure I've mentioned before that the first time I shot the XD, I feel in love with it. I borrowed it to take my CHL test with, and later bought one. I didn't think that I'd buy the M version, but like the Motorsport Division of BMW with their "M" versions, the XD(m) is a big improvement over the stock XD. The match barrel does really make a difference. I always thought my lack of accuracy with the XD was because of me, but seeing the improved target after shooting, I'm convinced the barrel makes a difference. The gun fits in my hand perfectly, but it might not everyones, so it comes with replaceable backstraps. (So far I think the H&K is the only one that has replaceable side straps). Although it comes with a loader, I think the Uplula loader that TA sells is much better: www.topgunsupply.com/uplula-magazine-speedloader-universal_pistol.htmlHaving forgotten both, I had to load by hand, and it wasn't as easy as it is with the Glock magazines. I sort of kick myself for not shooting it before making the trigger modifications because it limits my ability to rate it. After making the modifications I give this gun an "A". I think with the factory trigger I'd probably give it an "A-". I definitely would not hesitate recommending this gun to anyone.

I have been strongly eyeing up the XDm. One of them may fall out of the showcase into my range bag as I leave the shop. ;D
To me, it seems a little too big for carry, but the capacity and improvements may make one of these my new house protection handgun. I would go with .40S&W with 16+1. With a good holster, it could definitely be carried concealed, but I think there are better options for that purpose.

TA, if you have shot the XD, then I think you would really like the M version. I wouldn't consider it for concealed carry though, any more than I would my Glock 17L. (Of course with my trigger modifications, I'd probably shoot them both off trying to get it out of the holster).
