Before when picking up some gun and waiting to get my paperwork done, I noticed two large plastic boxes that said: "MasterPiece Arms MPA Defender". Since they weren't sealed, I opened one up to find a crazy looking stamped pistol with a big magazine. I asked her where she got them from because I hadn't seen them at any of her regular distributors. She said that she had gotten then from Davidson's. www.galleryofguns.com/genie/default.aspx?item=MPA930SST-AAnyhow, since it was 45ACP, and I had doubts about the accuracy, I decided to pass on it. It would be too expensive just to be a blasting toy. A few days later I went up to pick up something else, and again while waiting (gun dealers seem to be a triffle bit busy these days), I decided to look at it again. It was a 9mm. I then looked at the label of the other box, and it was a 45ACP. It doesn't come with a muzzle-brake, but you can purchase one for it for $30 MSRP. I don't know the availability of them currently, but I think it would definitely add to the coolness factor. The finish is parkerized, and the gun seems to be very well built. My only complaint is that the owner's manual is showing the MPA930 with the charging handle on the top. I think they moved the handle to the side in order to allow for putting the red-dot mount on the top.

It looks something like the Ingram Mac 10.

I believe it is the same basic design as the MAC 10, but they moved the cocking handle to the side.
When you disassemble it, the slide still has a hole in it where the cocking handle used to fit into it. With that design, you had to remove the cocking handle in order to remove the slide. With the handle on the side, it is in front of the slide rather than in the middle of it so there is no need to remove it.
There is a very strong sear spring, which also serves as a trigger return spring. There is also a lot of neutral engagement, which results in a lot of creep. I'm sure I could lighten the sear spring and hammer spring. Also I could remove some material from the hammer to get rid of some of the creep, but you know what? I'm not going to do anything with it. It wasn't designed to compete with the 1911's, and if I modified it, and it outshot my Wilson's, STI's or Les Baer, boy would I be ticked. ;D
DA, these people are near you. They are out IH85 in Brasselton, GA.
Hey, didn't those rednecks ever hear about oil? This thing is as dry as a bone.

Funny that you mention TMan; Last time I was near Brasselton, I had almost got a guns taken away. Those Rednecks are the kind we saw in "Deliverance".
You know Kim Bassinger bought Brasselton a few ago years ?

No, I didn't know that, nor do I quite know what you mean as "bought". Did she buy up all the property?

TMan; I do not know it means to purchase a town, but She bought Brasselton. I often wondered that myself.

A have a friend on another board that brings out his class 3 mac to some of the shoots. He has 2 uppers for it, 9mm and .45ACP. The front handgrip and wire stock make it much easier to shoot/control. It is over so fast, it is hard to say which is easier to shoot. I do know I've shot more 9mm through it, as it will burn $20 of .45ACP really really fast, and $20 of 9mm lasts just a little longer.

Ouch!!! Well I finally got to shoot this thing, and it isn't a pleasant experience. I kind of wondered why there was a piece of soft plastic over the trigger. I found out why. This thing has major league trigger slap.
Also, with the flash suppressor in place it is really loud because the noise is coming back at you.
However, we were both surprised with the accuracy. It also was flawless in execution. I'll try it again without the flash suppressor and see if I like it any better.

Only on our Handguns board would there be a discussion on trigger creep or groupings from a MAC-10 copy. I was surprised to see that it has sights let alone a rail. ;D
