I've been tossing around the idea of a vintage .22 revolver for quite sometime. I was pretty certain I wanted a S&W K22, but the past few months I've seen and heard a little more about the Colt Diamondbacks. I don't know much about them. So, what's the scoop? Are the two comparable to each other? I know many people are as divided about Colt and S&W as Ford and Chevy trucks and will not change regardless of what the other one has to offer. But I figure we can sort through some of that too

I put 50 rounds through a Diamondback one time. It definitely is a good revolver, but he wanted $700 for it, and I thought that was a bit too steep (this was a couple of months after buying the Python for $800.
I've never shot the K22, so I'm no help there, but if I saw a mint condition Diamondback for $700 again, I'd jump on it.
There aren't a lot of choices when it comes to 22LR revolvers. I like the S&W 617, but wish it wasn't in 10 rounds - that is a lot of little holes to clean. Anyhow, I don't think it is nealy the same quality of the other two guns you are considering.

I think someday I'll pick up a Ruger single six, but I've never had a .22 revolver.
