Well, after a few years of constant use, my Kershaw Chive is having a bit of an ED issue. The assisted opening just isn't "cutting it" as it were. Looked up the warrantee info on the Kershaw site and it says I can send it in and they will fix it for free. Better yet, with a simple request, they will send me the torsion bar and I can do it myself. New parts on the way...

Glad to hear customer service is still in service at some companies. I've been carrying an old Kbar that my dad bought me when I was about 10, or a small swiss army knife - I forget the model name. I just assembled a liner lock that I'm really liking. I'm bad about taking pictures and uploading pics, so I won't make any promises. I will try to get to it sometime though. www.knifekits.com all kinds of fun projects for the tinkerer/do it yourselfer. This is the one I assembled www.knifekits.com/vcom/index.php?cPath=1_156 with the leopard wood scales. It was really pretty easy, the scales came predrilled, I just had to sand/cut them down as they were very generously sized. (I got a little too aggressive on part of the sanding though) The rest of the kit basically screws together. There is a really easy spring assist kit that I'm thinking of building next. They advertise it as a 20minute project. hmm, maybe a nice father's day present for some dads I know.

Got an envelope from Kershaw yesterday. No fanfare, just 3 replacement springs in there. Nice to have a couple of backups. And they sent it inside a week too! I didn't realize that my spring was actually broken. Swapped it out in a few minutes and it works better than new. Very snappy now. I have nothing but good things to say about their CS.

Congrads for fixing it yourself vs. sending it in. ;D

My father would say I inherited my grandfather's parsimonious gene, however, since I manage to spend any savings on new gadgets, I told him I'm only partial-monious.

"parsimonious?" Dang, had to look it up.
The only thing I hate worse than a name-dropper is someone that tries to impress you by using big words. ;D
Dennis Miller drives me crazy.

I thought they did everything BIG in Texas TMan. Is there an exception for language?
I had to look it up too. ;D I like to think I have a substantial command of the English language, but my father often overestimates my grasp of those obscure words. Either that, or he's just still learnin' on me.
Those $5 words come in handy now and then though. By the time your client figures out that "parsimonious" isn't really the compliment that it appears, but just "cheap" in a pretty dress, he's already back home trying to haggle someone else...
