Having recently obtained the Tokarov (TTC), and some ammo, I decided to dig out the CZ52 and compare the two. I realized on the way home that I should have used different targets each time I switched guns to do a better comparison.
It has been a long time since I shot the CZ52 and I got quite a surprise when I pulled the trigger. What the heck happened to this gun? The trigger was much lighter than the Tok, and was giving me tighter groups. Also, wasn't it the CZ52 that was giving me all the trigger slap?
With the fresh knowledge of CZ trigger slap thanks to 5OT, I proceeded to field strip the CZ and look at the firing pin plunger. Much to my surprise, there wasn't one, just a hole where the plunger used to be. Then I remembered a long time ago that I replaced the firing pin with an aftermarket one that wouldn't break, but when I did so, according to the instructions, it meant that you no longer had the safety plunger. I remember that it made a big improvement on the trigger pull, but I don't think I ever took it to the range afterwards because I had no idea that it would have eliminated the trigger slap.
Anyhow, with the availability of 7.62x25mm ammo, the CZ may be getting a workout in the near future. I still think it is a racy looking gun, and kind of puts the Tok to shame. However, out of the box the Tok was a lot easier to shoot, and didn't require modifications.

I like my Cz52. I bought it basically as a cheap shooting novelty type gun. I think I paid about $125 for the gun and $110 for 1200 rounds of ammo for it. Current ammo prices are up about $10 a tin, and gun prices are up $50-100. I did buy a 9mm conversion barrel for mine, but with ammo prices what they are, I'll stick w the origninal caliber. I have a replacement firing pin, but haven't installed it yet. I've heard it helps quite a bit with the trigger pull.

5OT, I can't remember what the original trigger pull was like, but this is pretty sweet. It may have to do with the fact that it removes the firing pin safety plunger. Having written that, what else could it be? The box I shot yesterday was $11.95, and now new, not surplus, ammo is $18.95. I'm thinking that I'll buy some of the cheap surplus stuff and shoot it a lot. I have another one somewhere that I never removed the cosmoline from. This one I modified, and I put new grips on it. I see that Numrich has a schematic and parts for it now too. www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=1300z52%20PISTOL
