Well, I thought I had pictures of our targets on my iPhone, but alas - no pictures or of the grandkids either.
We went to Tampa for the 4th of July to be with my daughter, her 3 kids, and my son, his wife, and son came down from Atlanta. My son had to leave early, which left me with my son-in-law. Those of you that don't have son-in-laws probably won't understand it, but trust me - it is necessary to establish your superiority in front of your son-in-law. With my brother, he takes Andy to play golf. With me, I take David to the range.
David spent 8 years in the Air Force, but stationed with the Army because he was a forward air controller. He is tough - he has to be - my daughter is really tough. He is a good shot.
We went to Shooting Sports on Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa. The people were extremely nice, and the rentals were only $10 per gun. However, we had to use their ammo, which was $25/box for 50 rounds of 9mm. So the total bill for range fees, two gun rentals, targets, and rentals was $102. A cheap price to be able to be able to demonstrate male superiority.
We rented two guns: a CZ-75B and a S&W M&P, both in 9mm. The plan was to shoot 25 rounds, swap guns and shoot another 25 rounds. I shot the CZ first. Immediately there was a problem: the trigger wasn't resetting. No problem, just push it forward with your finger.
At the end of 25 rounds, I had just one ragged hole and he had holes all over the place. I was feeling very good. My daughter's 3 were enough, he had better not...
We switched lanes and guns and I started shooting the S&W. After 25 rounds I had holes all over the place and he had just one ragged hole with the CZ, but his hole was just slightly bigger than mine.
Hmmm, after a bad day at the range, I always faulted myself, now I'm wondering how much of it is me vs. how much of it is the gun.
We showed our targets to the range officer, and I complained about the trigger not resetting on the CZ. I also pointed out the difference in "precision" (yes, MLB, you can teach an old dog new tricks), between the two guns. He "explained" to us that the CZ was a "race" gun. I was amused, but kept quiet.
We then met my wife, daughter, and the 3 kinds for lunch, for which I dropped another $125 dollars for lunch.
Oh, the CZ had a creapy trigger just like mine. The EAA that I have is the same design, but a better trigger.
