Thinking about either a TAC 65 or an Outback II for a Walther P22.
Any thoughts?

Haven't heard from you in a while Adam. Welcome back.
The hassle I'd have to go through to get a suppressor isn't worth the satisfaction of having it here in NY.
I'd heard of some issues with the barrel shooting loose in some of the early P22s. Barrel nut problem I think. Supporting a suppressor on the end of it may compound that problem. Have you had any loose barrel issues?

Welcome back!
I can't speak on suppressors, as I have no need for one for a .22. They seem pretty cool and all, but not worth the $$ and red tape for me. I live out in the sticks pretty far and my neighbors think nothing of hearing gunfire. I also live near some public hunting grounds, so, again gunfire is heard pretty regularly.
After shooting a raccoon with a 9mm in an empty brick room with no hearing protection, I can say it would have been nice to have a suppressed 9mm at that point, or some really nice stereo electronic muffs. Muffs are cheaper and less hassle.

All sound suppressors require an ATF $200.00 transfer tax to be paid. Basically, this requires an ATF Form 4, finger print cards, 2x2 photos, and a check or MO to be sent to the ATF. Any class 3 dealer or class 2 manufacturer can help in this process.
I would also check with your local enforcement agency, because they will be to sign off of your application.

No, but seriously, I owned a P22 previously for a while, and never had any problems. The hassle isn't so bad in PA. Transfer tax, Class III dealer, the end. -afd

Ok, kids. So I have changed my mind and decided to go with a 9mm suppressor. Sig 239 and a Gemtech Tundra. Will post some piccies once I gets it all together.
