The Brady campaign compares our so called Gun Murder rates with countries like 5 people in New Zealand, 37 in Sweden, 56 in Australia, 73 in England and Wales, 184 in Canada and 11, 344 in The United States. Mind you, the Brady Campaign is a Gun Control Lobbyist group, so these numbers in the U.S. might be questioned. They fail to mention the diversity of our population and the Black on Black criminal murder rates in the United States. They also fail to mention :South Africa "The last statistics available showed that between April 2004 and March 2005, 18,793 people were murdered in South Africa, an average of 51 a day in a nation of 47 million. There were 24,516 attempted murders, 55,114 reported rapes and 249,369 assaults with grievous injury."During the same year, in 2004, the population of the U.S. was an estimated 293,655,404.
Here's The Score, with the Brady Numbers in the U.S. U.S. : 11, 344 Gun Murders, per 293,655,404 people
S. Africa : 18, 793 Gun Murders, per 47,000,000.people Giving the benefit of the doubt to the Brady Campaign; The Gun Murder numbers are pail in comparison to those in South Africa, where the population is one sixth that of the U.S.

The great majority of the shooting that are fatal here in Canada are in Toronto and its almost all gang related. Unfortunately it seems to be people of colour who are involved as well. Toronto has a lot of public housing which is subsidaized and they even kill each other at public barbeques no less and don't care if they kill X no. of bystanders as well. Up here this is not big news sadly to say as it happens way too dam often. Many decent young people have paid with their lives just because they were there. Sad like anywhere else of course.
