Taurus has announced the M590, which is a 9RD revolver chambered in the 5MM Remington Magnum Rimfire, which was discontinued by Remington, but is going to be produced by Aquila.
Rather interesting cartridge: 30gr JHP with 2300fps and 352ft/lbs of energy.
This should make the owners of the old Remington 591 and 592 rifles happy because they can buy ammo again.
The bullet is kind of small, .20" vs the more or less standard .22 that so many guns are chambered in. However, it is a lot more energy than the 22WMR, and a varmit shot with it would definitely know it was hit.
