Interesting plinker, but the .22WMR is an expensive round to plink with. I was hoping for a 3AT chambered in .22wmr. 30 rounds sounds like fun though.

as you said MLB, that is expensive plinking for .22. I have to get the .22lr mentality out of my head and think of the .22WMR more like .380, 9mm etc, then it isn't so bad on a relative scale.

I was also thinking about Kel-Tec PMR-30 / .22WMR in applications for self defense.

There's a big upside to being able to carry 30 rounds in a carry gun, but I don't think I can get over carrying a full size gun chambered in .22WMR for self defense.
If it were 3AT sized, and could carry 10 rounds or so. That would be something.

I have seen the gang bangers carrying .22 rimfire pistols.

Perhaps the Kel-Tec PMR-30 is better suited as a offensive weapon, than a defensive weapon.

When I think of a .22 as a defensive weapon, my first thoughts is of this piece. Specifications Type Revolver Action Single Caliber 22 Winchester Mag Barrel Length 1 5/8" Capacity 5 rd Safety Notched Cylinder Grips Rosewood Sights Blade Front; Fixed Rear Weight 6.2 oz Finish Stainless

I've seen the .22 Winchester Magnum cartridge compared ballistically to the FN 5.7x28 cartridge that was used at Fort Hood. The former has got to be cheaper than the latter. So, we have Kel-Tec making a pistol, the PMR-30, comparable to FN's Five-seveN pistol. Kel-Tec also makes a .223 "pistol" that looks like it would appeal to those wanting to use it for offensive purposes. I don't see much of a sporting or target applicaton to their PLR-16. www.kel-tec-cnc.com/plr16.htmWorrisome. (Edited for typo and to add link.)

I have always thought of the .22WMR as being a varmint cartridge, rather than a cartridge applied to self defense.
