I tried doing a "Search" on this gun, but the search engine doesn't allow anything less than 4 characters.
I've always admired the looks of this gun, and I sure do admire my H&K products, but I never got one because they were so hard to find. Now I notice that they have become available again, so I'm thinking about it.
Anyone heard anything bad about them?

TMan; I have read that if you are already a good shooter, The H&K Mark-23 will make you a better shooter than before. This pistol has envy written all over it. If I were to choose only one polymer pistol, this pistol would be it.

DA, the Google thing doesn't seem to be working for our board. I tried just a search on H&K and it didn't find this thread.
Wow, I think you have talked me into it, unless I hear something bad here.

TMan; We are talking about a very serious upper end "Offensive Handgun Weapon System", when we are talking about this pistol.

DA, even so, it is still less expensive ($1,876.00) than most 1911's. My Les Baer, both Wilson's etc. were over $2,000.
I also have the H&K Expert, which is now $1,154, in 45ACP, and I think it shoots as well as most of my 1911's (my accuracy - remember). I remember Becky had 3 of them and they came in a case. I asked her what they were, and she told me to look. When I tried the trigger, I was sold.
In the past I remember reading something about the MK23 and its role with the Armed Forces Special Forces. It had something to do with its reliability during the testing phase. There has to be some reason why it is so expensive compared to other models.

TMan; I remember when Les Bauer was producing the FBI Hostage Rescue Team pistol, that pistol was costing much more than the HK. TMan; I use something called "Google Chrome" on my search engines. I look up the Reviews on the pistol and came up with this. I remember reading about this pistol in "Small Arms Review", but I don't remember anything negative about it. I will see if I can look through my books for anything else.

Only those who considers himself worthy, could appreciate such a pistol.

I put 50 rounds through it this morning before things got crazy at the range (at one point I had 14 shooters).
It may sound strange, but I was scared - first time shooting a 45ACP since the surgery. I found myself flinching a little at first (rounds at 7 o'clock). Then when I realized that it wasn't going to cause any severe pain, things improved. Part was probably because of its weight, it is a handful.
According to what I read (thanks for all the links and your research DA), it has the same trigger system as the Expert and the Elite. From my experience: the trigger on my Expert feels the best of the three.
It doesn't come with a thread protector for the barrel threads. Becky called about it, and ordered one for me for $17. (She added it to a magazine order so I don't have to pay shipping). Although I'm quite careful, I'd still feel better about it having the threads protected.
Oh, only about half the time did it lock open after the last round. I'm thinking that I wasn't really locked up on it well with the right arm. The slide was lubricated with Wilson Combat oil, so I don't think lubrication is a factor.
One thing that I don't like is that on the frame there are just small contact points for the slide much the same way as there are on a Glock. I like the CZ-75 and Sig P210 approach much better. Also, and very minor, I'm not wild about the separate decocking lever, I'd rather have it combined with the safety. (Although the first time I flicked the safety on with the Ruger P90 and the hammer dropped, I almost had a bomb in my own drawers).
Was it worth the 5 year wait to get it? Yes. Was it worth the price? Probably. Are my socks still on? Yes.
Of my big 45's, the Sig P220 Sport is still my favorite.

TMan; Have you fired the Sig P220 Sport, since you had your surgery ?
I swear on my Sig P229 Sport pistols, but I have only good things about the H&K Mark-23.

DA, no I haven't fired the Sig since the surgery. The MK 23 is the first .45 caliber gun that I've shot since the surgery.
Right now I can't get to it because there is a bunch of furniture stacked up in front of it, and I can't move the furniture. Hopefully, if it stops raining, that will be fixed today. Then I get to play with the combination, which of course I carefully stored on my dead PDA.

TMan; If I was you, I would start off by using the bench rest until I was completely healed and up to snuff. I have seen that a lot of my pistols outweighs my accuracy skills as a shooter.
