While I was waiting for Becky to finish with a customer a few weeks ago, I was looking through all the rifles she had in stock. She had 3 of the Buckmark rifles. If you haven't seen these, they are ugly:
However, I hadn't seen the "Target" version before, but I had seen the standard ones, which look like this:
This is basically a handgun that they have replaced the barrel with an 18" barrel and glued a stock to the end of it. The insides are exactly the same as the Buckmark pistol, which is why I'm posting here, by the way.
What confuses me is the trigger. It has been drilled and tapped and has a screw to limit overtravel. However, there is no slot or way to adjust it. I thought perhaps I had a bad one, but the next time I went to her shop, I looked at the other ones and they were the same way. It looks like they put it in there to limit, but not eliminate the overtravel. Has anyone ever seen this on any other guns?
I haven't shot this thing yet because the trigger was horrible. I have two other Buckmark pistols with awful trigger too. Well, they were horrible, but aren't any more. I used the Power Custom I jig with the BM adapter. So now 2 of them are slightly less than 2-1/2lbs and the 3rd one is slightly less than 3lbs (don't ask me why, I thought I did them exactly the same).
Between the 3 guns I did notice that two of them had a reduced diameter on the sear pin where it goes through the safety click plate. The other one didn't, and its sear pin had been staked in place.
I found it interesting that the owners manual tells you not to remove the grips because the grips hold parts in place. Although this is true, the parts are easy to put back into place. Having done trigger jobs on Rugers and now on Buckmarks, the Buckmarks are slightly easier to work on, but I still like the Rugers better. Where did I put my hammer? Oh, here is a Ruger, I can use it.
