I know I've mentioned this before in another thread, but this pistol really deserves its own thread. I can't think of anything that I've wanted more than I do this gun. (Well when I was 16 there was my friend's sister that was 21...). What I can't figure out is why they put a 4.5 lb trigger on it. Perhaps because they don't expect anyone to ever shoot it. The full specs are at: www.kimberamerica.com/products/centennial/I've always kind of looked down on Kimbers and placed them above the imports, but below Colt, and way below Les Baer and Wilson Combat. If I'm lucky enough to get one, I won't shoot it, but just look at it and drool (kind of like it was with my friend's sister).

Becky called Kimber yesterday while I was there and her sales rep said that it should ship around the end of February. So I'm thinking perhaps in March I should have it. Just when I'd about given up hope.

I had forgotten about this one. I do love the case-coloring. Not sure about the white grips. Regular walnut wouldn't do I don't think, but maybe ebony...

MLB, according to their web-site, these are ivory grips. It doesn't say simulated ivory, but "ivory". So I'm assuming that some elephant gave his best...
The only negative is when I went up to Becky's to pick up the Sig, there was a BMW parked in front. The customer was inside, and he was picking up a FN SCAR in 7.62 NATO.
After he left, she mentioned to me that he was looking for the Centennial too, and she told him it wasn't available. If she sold it to him vs. to me, she could make over $1k. I feel a little guilty, but the software I've developed for them has to be worth something. This should probably be a PM, but what the heck.

TMan; If They say "Ivory", it is probably from tusk of the Mammoth, that has been dug up from the frozen earth around areas around Siberia. We have the Turnbull Restoration website listed on our forum and he could probably save you a alot of loot if you was to send off one Colts to have the same finished applied. For that kind of money, you could have one helluva pistol. Turnbull Restoration is the authority on antique firearm restoration and charcoal bluing Turnbull Restoration Pricing The Grips The Custom Pistolsmiths for The 1911 Most of these smiths belongs to The Pistolsmth Guild and You can see some examples of their work, or you can dig out some Handgun books / monthly periodicals and see for yourself

DA, what I'm paying for it is no where close to what the listed MSRP is on the gun.

Tman, I hope you don't feel any serious guilt about Becky selling you the pistol and not the other guy. You did ask her to order one for you, not the other guy. Just from the guns you list here, you certainly give her a good bit of business. And there is the software stuff.
Wonder what some nicely figured maple would look like on that gun... Or maybe get some carving done in the ivory. The white seems too white for the rest of the gun.

5OT, I really don't give her any business because I'm paying wholesale for everything. It wasn't in our original agreement. Our original agreement was 10% of the increase in sales because of my work would go to charity. The second year when I ordered the first gun from them she informed me that she and her husband had talked it over and anything I ordered would be at their cost. I balked at this, but she said her husband insisted and he is a really big guy. ;D
I think you are right about the grips. We have a lot of carved ivory. I suppose I could take the grips with me on one of my trips to India and have them carved, but I'd probably get them back with elephants or some Hindu God engraved on them. That would probably ruin the collector value of them too.

I seen that we was missing a lot of info on Custom Pistolsmiths and Grip Makers. Your threads always motivates me to post more on our forum.

It is here at last. I just got off the phone with Becky and she said that Tommy checked it in last night. I have to go pick up Jenny, and I'll pick up the gun at the same time. Can you believe it has been almost a year that I've been waiting for this thing to come in.
The bad news is that she hasn't ordered the Ed Brown yet because she needs another Ed Brown order (she has to order 3 guns from them).
Modified to add: the serial number starts with "MMXI". It took me a few minutes before the meaning of that dawned on me. Incidentally, it doesn't look quite as good as it does in Kimber's photograph.

I'd love the bobtail carry that they offer (EC-SS), but looking at the MSRP of $2645, even the dealer cost would likely stretch my wallet.

MLB, you're not alone. The guns are very appealing, but the MSRP is a bit out of my reach.

I was shooting my Kimber Stainless Target II in 9mm today and it wasn't locking open after the last round. Pulling the slide back manually, it still wouldn't lock open. I called Becky to see if she had another magazine in stock and she did. She told me when I came out to get it to remind her to give me the presentation case for the Centennial.
